Tickets on sale now!
St. John’s, NL-– Birds are chirping. The days are growing longer. A sense of renewal fills the air. Spring brings multi-award-winning American bluegrass pioneer Claire Lynch on a tour to Atlantic Canada this May, where she stops everywhere from Norris Point, Newfoundland to Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia and several places in-between.
With two Grammy nominations, three International Bluegrass Music Association Female Vocalist Awards and a United States Artists Walker Fellowship, Lynch has earned her keep in the tower of song. Recently, she received two trophies at the 2014 International Bluegrass Music Association Awards for Song of the Year “Dear Sister”, a co-write with Louisa Branscomb and for Recorded Event of the Year “Wild Montana Skies”, a collaboration with Rob Ickes and Special Consensus on their Compass Records “Country Boy” tribute to John Denver.
While Emmylou Harris hails Lynch as having the “voice of an angel,” Dolly Parton, whom Lynch has lent harmonies on several records, believes it’s her solo material that truly stands out. Parton trumpets, “She has one of the sweetest, purest and best lead voices in the music business today. I’m so happy to see her shine on her own.”
Named by DigitalJournal.com as one of the “10 best angelic voices of our time” alongside icons like Judy Collins, Sarah McLachlin and Alison Krauss, Lynch is a legend in her own right. Her live performances conjure a beautiful authenticity. She’s both timeless and original. Her latest albums Dear Sister and Holiday! are musical offerings of love, celebration and heartfelt connection. Lynch’s return to Canada’s East Coast crystalizes her legacy.
“This is my first full tour of the Maritimes,” says Lynch from her home in Nashville. “I can’t tell you how exhilarated we feel about being there in the Spring and soaking up the landscape, the culture and its people. And as we share our music with them, I have a feeling we may discover we have many things in common, music- and heart-wise.”
Lynch will be backed by the members of her white-hot Claire Lynch Band, which features soulful, young gun Bryan McDowell (fiddle-mandolin), twenty-something virtuoso Jarrod Walker (mandolin-guitar) and A-Lister Mark Schatz (bass-banjo).
